Jason Eisener's Halloween fan film + this week's best events

Hey Halifax!

This week, Jason Eisener's new Halloween fan film puts the original Hobo from Hobo With a Shotgun back on screen in amazing Mike Myers lore. Plus the best Halloween parties and shows this weekend, the AfterWords Literary Festival starting Sunday, Shenanigans on November 12, Logan Richard's new single, the last chance to see Frenchy's and Deepwater, and all of the best shows and events this week.

Let's dig in!

Dartmouth's Jason Eisener made a Halloween fan film that YouTube is loving

Add this to your Halloween watch list. Jason Eisener, the Hobo With a Shotgun filmmaker, shot Project Shamrock over two days on 16mm and 8mm film in Dartmouth and Halifax. It's a "lost reel" from Halloween 1960 that ties Michael Myers to Silver Shamrock, the mask company from Halloween III: Season of the Witch.

Dave Brunt, the original Hobo, plays a janitor who worked at the Silver Shamrock factory for decades. Eisener cast him in Hobo With a Shotgun after meeting him at a Halifax video game store, and almost 20 years later he was the first actor cast for this one.

Since it went up on October 22 it has racked up over 120,000 views and 470 comments, and plenty of them want it turned into a feature. The top comment: "this is the halloween lore i've always wanted." Eisener added a detail in the replies: "In our version of the story, Silver Shamrock secretly produced Halloween to attract a massive audience, all leading up to the Big Giveaway."
