Quick Hits A few things to do this weekend, and the local news worth knowing. 🎙️ International Waters is a new serialized comedy adventure. Halifax artist Andrew Neville and Toronto comedian Everardo Ramirez, whose comedy career has deep Halifax roots, made it together. The first episode just dropped. 👗 Halifax Fashion Week is back for its fifth anniversary. Runway shows, workshops, screenings and more unfold Aug 8–15, followed by the SOLi Market on Aug 16. ✍️ DCAF Talks brings hands-on cartooning to Alderney Gate Library. Free, all-ages zine, risograph and cartooning workshops start Saturday at 10 AM. 🚌 Eastern Front is taking a summer field trip to Ross Creek. Saturday’s noon-to-9 PM trip leaves Alderney for Valley stops, an artist talk and The Wind Coming Over the Sea. 📚 Shakespeare by the Sea is staging a free Beauty & The Beast at Central Library. The all-ages game-show musical runs Saturday from 1 to 3:30 PM. 🏮 Northern Lights Lantern Festival is back at Merv Sullivan Park. The free Saturday event runs from 5 to 9:30 PM with a BBQ, music, activities and a lantern parade; fireworks go ahead if the fire ban permits. 🎡 Eastern Passage–Cow Bay Summer Carnival continues through Sunday. Still ahead: a parade, breakfast, bingo, dance, car meet, teddy-bear picnic and children’s races. The fireworks are sadly postponed. 🌸 Perfume & Petals turns a Berwick greenhouse into a fragrance workshop and styled picnic. It runs Sunday, Aug 16, from 3:30 to 6 PM at The Greenhouse on Strawberry Lane; tickets start at $90 plus fee. 💚 CARE is now available across the Halifax peninsula.
