Hey Halifax!

Halifamous started over 20 years ago as a local music forum and grew to be one of the top hip-hop music sites in Canada. It was the project that got me interested in online media and marketing, and ultimately sent me down a long career path in enterprise marketing technology.

Although the original site shut down over 15 years ago, I have always kept one foot in the music and arts scene in Halifax.

Last January I decided that Halifax needed more local arts coverage, and re-launched Halifamous. In 2025, we grew from 0 to over 9600 email subscribers and over 10k Instagram followers.

We have much bigger plans for 2026.

We just launched a brand new website, which will be the absolute best place to discover what’s happening in the city. We’re hiring local writers and videographers to cover local culture and help you discover more of the amazing artists, businesses, and makers doing great things in Nova Scotia. Plus, a ton of exciting projects we can’t tell you about quite yet.

Oh Alice (Alice Liu) is a multidisciplinary artist who grew up in Nova Scotia after moving from Yantai, China at age 8. Berklee-trained in songwriting and music production, she crafts ethereal pop rooted in personal narrative while also working as a creative director and visual designer. Her debut EP HEARTSHOT dropped in June 2025, and she’s one of the local artists we’re most excited to hear more of in 2026.
