Hey Halifax,

Here’s your weekly round-up of what’s happening around the city this week. Tons of sports and music to take in this weekend, plus an incredible new album from Brett Matthews that you absolutely need to check out!

1️⃣ The Halifax Mooseheads open their season vs. Charlottetown at Scotiabank Center this Saturday.

2️⃣ Daniel James McFadyen celebrates his album release with a huge show at Light House Centre on Friday night. Hosted by Rankin MacInnis and featuring guests Good Dear Good and The Public Service Duo.

3️⃣ The Halifax Wanderers take on Pacific FC this Saturday as they try to stay in playoff contention.

4️⃣ The Craft Beer Kitchen Party is happening October 25 at the Marriott Harbourfront, and they’re cranking things up a few notches with live music from Rankin MacInnis & The Broken Reeds + a whole lotta beer to sample.

Fresh off his ECMA win for Country Release of the Year in May, Cape Breton’s Brett Matthews just released his debut album Tomorrow. Produced by Classified, the album features 5 brand new tracks in addition to four previously released tunes. That Wasn’t Me is a haunting alt-r&b track co-written with JUNO-winning (and now Member of Parliament) David Myles.
