What an incredible start to #AIFF45! Last night’s Opening Gala featured the world premiere of Sk+te’kmujue’katik (At the Place of Ghosts), directed by Bretten Hannam. Filmed in Nova Scotia, the haunting story captivated audiences and set the perfect tone for an unforgettable week of cinema. The red carpet buzzed with filmmakers, cast, and community members, and the celebration continued at Stardust Bar with an energetic after-party.

AIFF 45 kicked off last night, and these are the 3 films that have us most excited:
Little Lorraine - based on the Adam Baldwin tune, this one is the hottest ticket in town this weekend.
The Eyes of Ghana - a fascinating new documentary from Oscar-winning Nova Scotian director Ben Proudfoot, executive produced by Barack and Michelle Obama.
Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie - with a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, this Canadian mockumentary comedy is a must-see.

Halifax-based Soul and RnB artist Lindsay Misiner returns with her third single, “I Saw an Angel”, from her upcoming sophomore album out October 17th. A heartfelt memorial ballad dedicated to her late aunt Tishie, the song reflects on themes of loss, grief, and surrender—wishing for guidance from a higher power when life feels unbearably heavy.
