☀️ This Week in Halifax: Taste Asia, Paws & Pints, HIFF

Hey Hali!
Summer appears to have finally arrived, and there’s a ton going on this weekend, especially on the Halifax Waterfront. We’ve got Taste Asia turning the waterfront into a delicious dumpling-fuelled night market (free K-Pop dance lessons included), pups and pints raising funds for Bide Awhile, and the Halifax Independent Filmmakers Festival lighting up the Bus Stop with boundary-pushing flicks.
We’ve also got a brand new slapper of a tune from Cape Breton’s Elyse Aeryn to share as our Song of the Week!
Taste Asia on the Waterfront
Dumplings, dragon dances, and a seaside night-market buzz: Taste Asia turns Foundation Wharf into a 25-plus-vendor celebration of Asian flavours and culture. The four-day, free-entry festival runs 11 AM–8 PM daily, complete with chef-demo kitchens, carnival games, and live performances.
Even better, House of Eights is hosting free K-Pop dance lessons on the boardwalk every afternoon—no experience needed, just bring your sneakers and channel your inner BTS.
Show up hungry, grab a bubble tea, learn a new routine, and let the waterfront vibes carry you into summer.
May 29 - June 1 on the Halifax Waterfront
Pints & Paws
Swing by the Seaport this Sunday for Paws & Pints, where $1 from every cold Garrison pour helps Bide Awhile care for animals in need. Expect pop-up pet vendors, pro tips from trainer Terra, free nail trims, dog-friendly “beer,” insta-worthy portraits, and custom cartoon keepsakes. Antojo’s rolling up with tacos + bandanas, so both you and your four-legged sidekick leave fed and looking fresh.
Sunday, June 1 @ The BG Beer Garden (1299 Lower Water)
Halifax Independent Film Festival - May 28-31
Four nights of boundary-pushing indie cinema take over the Bus Stop Theatre as HIFF turns 19. Expect features, shorts, filmmaker Q&As, and after-screening hangs that put you shoulder-to-shoulder with Atlantic Canada’s most exciting film talent. Grab a festival pass or single tickets, settle into the North End’s coziest arthouse, and let the big-screen inspiration roll.
Grab Tickets To Our June 28 House Concert!
We’ve teaming up with Toller Lager to throw an amazing= oceanside house concert featuring two of the East Coast’s most incredible voices: Brett Matthews and Nicole Ariana.
Join us on June 28th at our gorgeous secret oceanside Airbnb, just outside the city. Guests will be shuttled to and from the venue by Barkeep Cocktails and treated to refreshments from Toller and Barkeep.

⭐️ Song of the Week
Cape Breton’s Elyse Aeryn is quickly becoming one of the hottest names in East Coast music. She kicked off a 15-date East Coast, Ontario, Quebec tour earlier this month, and just released this brand new banger.
From Elyse on IG:
“I started writing this song about falling in love as part of a bigger universal plan. But in time, it grew into a love letter from my younger self, reminding me of what we could be together. Unstoppable ❤️🔥”
We’ve been telling you for a while now, but if you haven’t seen Dave Sampson or Pretty Archie live, you need to do yourself a favour and check out this incredible show tomorrow night.
