Hey Halifax!
Happy Pride Month! A lot is happening in Halifax this week - a singles mixer with free-play arcade games and a bachelor auction, tons of great local theatre, and plenty of amazing live music to choose from. We’ve also got a new indie-pop gem from Burry that belongs on your summer playlists, along with their Halifavourites picks
Strange Plants’ Album Release is this Saturday at The Sanctuary Arts Centre. This our top show pick of the week, and we’ve been looking forward to catching them live since they released their debut single ‘Tell Me All Your Secrets, Pt 2’ back in February. They’ve got an all-star lineup and amazing genre-bending sound.

There’s a ton to choose from when it comes to concerts in Halifax this summer, and most shows don’t come cheap. TD Halifax Jazz Festival’s festival pass gives you 6 nights of incredible music for only $219 - it’s kind of a no-brainer. Grab yours and get to know this year’s amazing headliners and local acts. We’re particularly excited for Big Boi (1/2 of legendary rap group OutKast) and Cape Breton’s own Goldie Boutilier.
⭐️ Song of the Week
I first heard of Burry through my massage therapist (shoutout Sam Herman!), who also happens to be their partner. It was a while before I started running into their music in the wild, but it stuck once I did. Burry is quietly making some of the best indie pop in Atlantic Canada right now.
Their new single “Peaches” is bright, dreamy, and impossible not to hum after just one listen. It’s also a great entry point if you’re new to their music, along with ‘Pillow Princess’ and ‘Our Home’. They’ve been on a roll with a string of super catchy singles.
Add Peaches to your summer playlists immediately.
