🎶 Favourite Local Artist
Laura Roy
“I love Laura's voice to no end, it is literally perfection. Her songwriting skills are etherial. She is a true artist and an amazing human being. She actually has a show coming up on March 28 in Halifax.”

Editors note: Laura is also a Grammy-nominated songwriter and has performed as a backup vocalist with artists like Sabrina Carpenter and Dua Lipa 🤯. NBD.
🥰 Favourite Place
Jenny’s Tavern
“Jenny's Tavern, Lady Hammond Rd. - the watering hole, my home away from home - the place where I feel like I'm already a celebrity. There's nothing like Ronnie's steak and egg breakfast or the classic Jenny's burger.”
🍻 Favourite Bars & Eats
Salvatores
“I have been going to Salvatores for 14 years. Yes, 14 years. I consider myself the customer of the decade and I kind of feel like I have partial ownership of the place. Would you guess that "the original" is my favourite slice? A veggie hero with extra pickles and a blood orange San pellegrino is the move. I have never sent a thing back, this place is probably my favourite restaurant in Halifax.”
R&B Kitchen
“R&B Kitchen isn’t just the best soul food in town—it’s a place built on family values and community. Every single meal at this restaurant absolutely slaps and I've heard their staff are the best staff in the city 😉”
Buddy’s Deli
“I am known to like a good sandwich, and I am also known to know what good food is. Buddy's fresh subs are absolutely delicious. My favourite is the Caprese, as I am a full on cheese addict and I'm not afraid to admit it. Not to mention the staff make you feel so at home every single time.”
Jukai Japanese & Thai
“I have recently discovered the beef teriyaki poke bowl at Jukai, they have two locations - one in downtown Halifax and the other in Larry Utek. Perfectly cooked medium-rare beef, crispy yam tempura, creamy avocado & more, all layered over rice and fresh lettuce… just thinking about it makes my mouth water!”
✅ Other Favourites
Jenny at Uptown Salon & Spa: “A staple in my everyday life, Jenny Zinck from Uptown Salon & Spa always keeps me looking and feeling my best. I get my brows, lashes and brazilian done at Uptown.“
Favourite Person: “There is an elderly gentleman that drives a rascal scooter up and down Gottingen St. daily, sometimes he goes down by the Metro Centre - I just love the guy. He kind of looks like Little Critter, the children's book character from the 90s.”
Favourite Street: “Gottingen St. - I drive up and down Gottingen St. at least five times a day just to see what's going on. It's a ritual. I actually have places I'm going, but I typically will use Gottingen as the main archway to get there just because I'm nosy. It's where I grew up, so I need to know the low-down.”
