👀 This weekend in Hali + Halifaves w/ Moira & Claire & Postfun

Hey Halifax!
Nocturne kicks off tonight, the Wanderers battle for a playoff spot in their last game of the regular season, and there is a ton of amazing music to see this weekend. We’ve also got a new edition of Halifavourites featuring Moira & Claire and Postfun to celebrate their new single.
Oh, and we’re hiring. 🤨
Dig in!
1️⃣ Halifamous is hiring writers/creators! If you're obsessed with Halifax culture and love experimenting with how stories get told—Instagram carousels, video, graphics, or whatever format makes the story work—we want to hear from you. All work is paid. Think magazine-quality storytelling, but designed for how people actually consume content today. Get in touch!
2️⃣ The HFX Wanderers play their last game of the regular season at The Wanderers grounds on Saturday and it’s a big one. A win will secure at minimum home-field advantage in a play-off qualifier, and with some luck clinch 3rd place and a playoff spot.
3️⃣ Nocturne 2025 is Halifax’s biggest art week of the year and it kicks off tonight with the Propeller Launch Party. Head over to their website to learn about the installations and plan your schedule!
4️⃣ Burnside Brewing is turning 10 and they’ve enlisted Dave Sampson to host and produce an incredible matinee Canadian Tuxedo Party featuring an all-star band and lineup of local artists all covering classic Canadian bangers. Get your tix before they’re gone!
We’re giving away 4 free tickets to party with Rankin MacInnis and The Broken Reeds at Savour’s Craft Beer Kitchen Party on October 25 at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront! With over 20 local and guest beers to sample, prizes and an amazing snack bar, it’s going to be an incredible time.
Don’t leave it to chance - buy your tickets today and if you win you’ll be refunded!
Halifax folk/pop sister duo Moira & Claire have an amazing new collaboration with local rockers Postfun and to celebrate we asked them all to share what they love about our city.
Favourites Bars
Moira & Claire: Chainyard
Chainyard! Their Wednesday Bingo nights are such a fun time. And it’s free! You just have to start a tab. We still haven’t won a bingo yet, but we are determined to.
Postfun: The Local
The Local. An all-in-one stop for us. Ping-pong, Jazz nights, cool decor, Guinness and Horsepower on tap, and you’re always bound to run into a pal when headed there.
Honourable mentions: Charlie’s, Jellies, Propeller Arcade, and The Brown Hound.
Local Artists
Moira & Claire: idialedurnumber
We loveeeee idialedurnumber. They are absolutely killing it in the Halifax scene and beyond. Their live set pulls you in, and leaves you wanting more. Such a great group of people making and playing sick music.
Postfun
Our fav Halifax artists are Good Dear Good, Sleepy Kicks, Mat Elliott and Jade Bennett! Simply too good.
Favourite lock-in-on-music-admin spot
Moira & Claire: Seven Bays
It’s our go-to spot for last minute grant-writing. It’s open late! And they make a mean London Fog.
Postfun: Garrison Tap Room
No better spot to spend all your savings on fancy coffee, and lock in upstairs with some headphones in. Staff are the freaking best, and having the Garrison drinks on tap, it makes for a great band meeting zone, morning or night.
Favourite Street
Moira & Claire
Agricola street! It has some of our favourite bars, thrift stores, cafés, and cool shops. We like it so much it’s the opening line of our new song, something (anything). Check it out!
Postfun
Agricola Street for sure! Great street to walk the dog on. Lots of great bars, food spots, cafe’s and a hub for creative folks. We recorded our last record on Agricola street with Braden Kamermans, and we try and bring the house down at Gus’ Pub as often as we can. The street has meant a lot to us for quite some time. Echoing Moira & Claire, we love it so much we wrote a song about it!
Events We’re Looking Forward To
Moira & Claire: Nova Scotia Music Week
It’s one of our favourite events of the year, and it’s in Yarmouth this time. We love discovering new music, making new friends, and hanging with our pals. October 23-27!
Postfun
Aside from NSMW 2025 this month, we are excited for:
- Propellor’s Halloween Screenings
- Mac Demarco at The Light House Arts Centre - Dec 3
- Christmas in 70 days
Thrift Store
Moira & Claire: The Halifax Vintage Co-Op
It’s super close to our place. Moira found her favourite sweater there, and Claire loves looking at all the trinkets and vintage photographs.
Favourite Eats
Postfun
- Brown Hound Steak and Guinness pie. Mmmm.
- Ori - Cafe in Dartmouth. Catch our man Mackenzie there and ask him to serve ya up a latte made with love.
Favourite Venue
Postfun: Gus’ Pub
Our fav venue has gotta be Gus’ Pub. It feels like home. The staff are all close pals of ours and every show we have there is always a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Moira & Claire are a pop/folk sister duo who have been releasing music for almost a decade, and singing together for even longer. They’ve grown into one of Atlantic Canada’s most impressive acts, producing genuinely world-class pop folk that is starting to garner them attention from outside of the region. This new collaboration with Halifax’s Postfun does not disappoint and is a perfect introduction to their music if you’re not yet familiar. Check it out!
