Ross Simmonds is a hugely successful marketing strategist, author, speaker, and founder of Foundation Marketing. He works with huge brands worldwide, is one of the most sought after speakers in the industry, and has an incredible marketing pod on the Hubspot Podcast Network. His book Create Once, Distribute Forever is required reading for any business trying to figure out social media content in 2025 and beyond.
We asked Ross to share his favourite spots in Halifax for this weeks Halifavourites feature:
Fav Resto: Humble Pie in Dartmouth
When I'm in a rush, there's nothing better than a Humble Pie. The Maple Curry Pumpkin & Bean is my fall favorite but the Buffalo Chicken is my go to.
Fav Local Artist: @Nessyrt
From NFTs to Murals throughout the city. I’ve loved watching Nessys art work shine on a global stage & show her community & culture to the world.
Fav Pizza Hidden Gem: Jacob’s Lounge
The Pizza here is ridiculous. I've had a lot of Pizza in my life but there's few places in the world that live up to the crust and toppings of a Jacob's Lounge slice.
Fav Barber: Peedi @ Legends
I'm on the road speaking at events all the time and meeting with clients around the world. My barber and homie Peedi at Legends in Cole Harbour always keeps me fresh and clean.
Fav Brewery: Good Robot
These guys are like the Willy Wonka of Beer in this city. Great food. Great people. Great vibes and always unique / interesting things happening at their locations. Not to mention their food is just as good as their beer.
Fav Sports Team: Halifax Thunderbirds
I don't think there's a better sports vibe in Halifax right now than a Thunderbirds Game. The music is wild, the games are top notch and the crowd brings a level of energy that is second to none.
Fav Local Musician: O’Sound
One of the best R&B voices in the Province. If you haven't heard his R&B freestyle with R&B Kitchen you're missing out.

Mat Elliot’s new single Video Games delivers on the signature groovy production that has been drawing us in over the last year. His ECMA and NSMW-nominated South Endings EP was one of our favourite local releases of 2024, showcasing Elliott’s knack for creating polished, feel-good soundscapes, and Video Games is an exciting look at what’s to come from the Halifax artist and producer.
