Official Rules

Eligibility

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must be a resident of Nova Scotia, Canada
• Must be able to attend in-person classes in Halifax, NS
• Employees of Halifamous, MixAcademy, and Upward Kitchen, and their immediate family members, are not eligible

Entry Period

The contest begins February 4, 2026 at 12:00 PM Atlantic Time and ends February 20, 2026 at 11:59 PM Atlantic Time. The winner will be drawn on February 21, 2026 at 12:00 PM Atlantic Time.

How to Enter (No Purchase Necessary)

There are two ways to enter this contest:

Method 1: Online Entry (Free)

• Visit halifamous.ca/win/mix-academy
• Enter your email address and verify with the code sent to your inbox
• Receive one (1) entry into the draw
• Limit: One online entry per person

Method 2: Mail-in Entry (Free)

• Hand-print your full name, mailing address, email address, and phone number on a 3" × 5" card or piece of paper
• Include a 50-word original essay answering: "Why do you want to learn to DJ?"
• Mail to: Halifamous MixAcademy Contest, 5450 Kaye Street TH03, Halifax NS B3K 0G7
• Each valid mail-in entry receives fifty (50) entries into the draw
• Limit: Six (6) mail-in entries per person (maximum 300 entries via mail)
• Mail-in entries must be postmarked by February 18, 2026 and received by February 20, 2026

Bonus Entries (Optional Donation)

After completing your free entry, you may choose to support Upward Kitchen and receive bonus entries:

• $25 donation = 50 bonus entries (provides 4 meal tokens)
• $50 donation = 125 bonus entries (provides 8 meal tokens)
• $100 donation = 300 bonus entries (provides 16 meal tokens)
• No limit on number of donations per person
• Donations are processed through Rafflify and are non-refundable
• Donation proceeds go to Halifamous, who will purchase meal tokens from Upward Kitchen, a local social enterprise providing meals to community members in need
• Donations are not tax-deductible

Prize

The winner receives one (1) full 10-week DJ course from MixAcademy Halifax. The course includes in-person training at MixAcademy's Halifax studio. Approximate retail value: $787 CAD. Prize is non-transferable and must be redeemed within 12 months of the draw date.

Winner Selection & Notification

• One (1) winner will be selected by random draw from all eligible entries
• Each entry (free, mail-in, or bonus) counts equally in the draw
• Odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received
• The selected entrant will be contacted via email within 48 hours of the draw
• To claim the prize, the selected entrant must correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question without mechanical assistance
• The selected entrant must respond and correctly answer the skill-testing question within 72 hours
• If the selected entrant cannot be contacted, fails to respond, or incorrectly answers the skill-testing question, the prize may be forfeited and an alternate winner may be selected

General Conditions

• The prize is non-transferable and has no cash value or cash alternative
• The winner is responsible for any applicable taxes associated with the prize
• By entering, participants agree to these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor, which are final
• The Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, suspend, or modify the contest if fraud, technical failures, or any other factor impairs the integrity of the contest
• The Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, or incomplete entries, or for any computer, online, telephone, or technical malfunctions
• By accepting the prize, the winner grants the Sponsor permission to use their name and likeness for promotional purposes without additional compensation, except where prohibited by law

Limitation of Liability

By entering, participants release and hold harmless the Sponsor, its affiliates, partners, and their respective directors, officers, employees, and agents from any and all liability for any injuries, loss, or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with the contest or the prize.

Privacy

Personal information collected in connection with this contest will be used to administer the contest and notify the winner. Your email address may be used to send you the Halifamous newsletter if you opted in during entry. Donation information is processed by Rafflify and subject to their privacy policy. Governing Law

This contest is governed by the laws of the Province of Nova Scotia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Nova Scotia.
