🚨 Massive Arts & Culture Cuts + this week's events

Hey Halifax!
You may have noticed a lot of talk about budget cuts this week. The province cut $14.3M from arts and culture — 24 programs completely eliminated, festival funding halved, the only provincial touring program for musicians cut 40%. All while federal arts
funding to NS has dropped 48% in four years. The music scene that makes this province special is getting squeezed from every direction.
Here's the thing: that $14.3M is 1.2% of the deficit. A rounding error. This after the government chose to give up $345 million a year in HST and toll revenue. They didn't run out of money they just decided culture wasn't worth keeping.
Culture is what makes people want to live here. It's $1B in GDP and 13,000+ jobs. We built a tool that lets you email your MLA about this in one click.
