FINAL WEEK - LAST CHANCE TO SEE THIS EXTRAORDINARY EVENT! APPEARING THIS THURSDAY, FRIDAY AND SATURDAY ONLY ON STAGE AT THE POND PLAYHOUSE SUMMERLAND by Arlitia M. Jones The Camera Reveals What We Cannot See Step into William H. Mumler’s mysterious New York City photography studio, circa 1869—a place where the living and the dead share the same frame. Actors Jesse Robb, Dom MacKinnon and Lise Renault brilliantly directed by Bill VanGorder bring to the stage a thoroughly entertaining but unsettling blend of mystery and suspense. Based on actual events the entire production is top-notch in its recreation of a 19th century early photographic studio, including historically accurate period-piece costumes and eerie mood-setting lighting and sound. Here are just a few of our appreciative patrons testimonials: "The actors were amazing....all those lines!" "Very engaging. I was fascinated by the evil, manipulating wife." "First time we have been here. We really enjoyed Summerland" It's not too late. Some prime seats still available for most performances! There will never be a better time to buy! GET YOUR TICKETS AT: www.tagtheatre.com Summerland tells the haunting true story of William H. Mumler, a 19th-century spirit photographer whose portraits claimed to reveal images of the dead. Aided and abetted by his strong-willed wife Hannah, Mumler becomes very successful, well known and controversial all at the same time. The play title refers to a tenet of the mid-19th century Spiritualist movement, a subject of intense curiosity for some. It held that there were multiple levels of the afterlife. For the pure of heart, the first stop after death would be a paradise-like realm called Summerland. As he taps into his clients need for continued connection, his “spirit portraits” electrify believers and anger skeptics, until one powerful man the steely Chief Marshal Joseph Tooker—sets out to expose him as a fraud. Tooker investigates Mumler’s process, uncovering much more than he bargained for. When the inspector’s own photographic sitting takes an unexpected turn, the line between skepticism and belief blurs — challenging both men’s convictions about what lies beyond the veil.
