About

Organ Restoration Fund for the Cathedral's Casavant Frères Organ Here at St Mary’s Cathedral Basilica, the organ is not a decoration. It is the voice of prayer. It supports every Holy Mass, every wedding, every funeral. It has accompanied generations in moments of grace, sorrow, and hope. This organ is a renowned Casavant Frères Opus 2570 pipe organ built by a Montreal-based firm in 1960. It was dedicated to World War II veterans, at its installation by Archbishop Joseph Gerald Berry. Today, this instrument is currently out of commission and is in serious need of restoration and repair. Without it, that magnificent voice will remain silent. The estimated cost to restore the organ is $70,000. We are asking your generous help to participate in supporting the organ restoration project. This project is about preserving something sacred—for the glory of God, and for the sanctification every soul who will walk through the doors of the Cathedral, in the years to come. Every gift matters. Every gift builds. We are hosting a Sacred Music Concert series, to raise funds for this magnificent organ. The first Concert of the series will be held at the Cathedral on May 28 at 7 pm. Music Director of the Cathedral, Peter-Anthony Togni, a celebrated Juno-award Composer, Organist, and Jazz Musician, and will be playing the Organ alongside world renown musicians: Jeff Reilly on the Bass Clarinet, Mike Murley on the Saxophone, and a vocal ensemble. While general admission cost to the concert is $35, if you are in a position to make a larger gift, we invite you to donate generously for this cause. All donations are tax deductible. Let us restore this instrument together—so that it may continue to lift hearts to God for generations to come. Thank you and may God bless you
