ICYMI: The Christophers

Screening times: Saturday, August 1, 6:00 PM Steven Soderbergh | USA, UK | 2026 | 100 mins ICYMI stands for “In Case You Missed It (at the Multiplex)”, where we screen films we think deserve a longer theatrical run! A mainstay of the London art scene since his starry breakout in the creative explosion of the 1960s, Julian Sklar (Ian McKellen) has drifted into a cluttered, self-imposed seclusion. His estranged children enlist Lori (Michaela Coel), a young painter and sometime-forger, to pose as a prospective assistant and gain access to a fabled series of unfinished canvases Julian has buried deep in his home studio, in a deceptive bid to secure an inheritance for themselves. Steven Soderbergh takes the art caper film in a surprising direction with a film that mixes black comedy with deeply felt human connection. The Christophers is anchored by two actors at the height of their powers, delighting in every scene together. "The double act of McKellen and Coel has the onscreen chemistry of the year." - Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian "For a film about approaching death, and the sudden, devastating loss of talent that may precede it, it's a surprisingly sparky movie – one that exudes warmth and life..." - Kate Stables, Sight and Sound Tickets $12 ($11.40 at the door if available) Saturday, August 1, 6:00 PM tickets
