The AfterWords Literary Festival presents Souvankham Thammavongsa: On Writing - in conversation with Stephanie Domet - on Wednesday, April 29th. Tickets are available on the AfterWords website HERE for $40 including lunch (vegetarian and gluten-free options available). Doors open at 11:00 AM with the event underway at 11:30 AM. Join us as this conversation with Souvankham Thammavongsa explores her life as a writer, her origin story, her process, her challenges, and how her approach has changed over her career. Souvankham Thammavongsa's stories have won an O. Henry Prize and appeared in The New Yorker, Harper's Magazine, The Paris Review, The Atlantic, and Granta. This past November, she was named the winner of the 2025 Giller Prize for her début novel, Pick a Colour, published by Knopf Canada. Stephanie Domet is the author of two novels, Homing and Fallsy Downsies, both published by Invisible. She also co-wrote a non-fiction book for middle grade readers called Amazing Atlantic Canadian Women, published by Nimbus. She is the co-founder and co-executive director of the AfterWords Literary Festival, and the managing editor of The Dalhousie Review. She is no doubt wearing something she sewed herself.
